About me
Kara Hart is an elementary school counselor with Hampton City Schools in Hampton, VA. She has served in her current role for the last 14 years. Prior to serving as an elementary school counselor, Ms. Hart was a Qualified Mental Health Professional providing in-home counseling and as a treatment counselor at a psychiatric mental institute for children. She is the advocacy and government relations co-chair for the Virginia School Counselor Association. She achieved RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) with the American School Counselor Association for Bryan Elementary and recently maintained certification for NBCT. She serves as a team lead for elementary counselors, a mentor, an intern supervisor, and on several school and district committees. She is currently working toward her EdS in Advanced School Counseling at Old Dominion University and enjoys advocating for students and education while continuing her own education to grow the profession. She is also mother to two sons, Wylder and Kali, who are proud Hampton City Schools students. She also enjoys coaching their soccer and basketball teams and cheering for them in their various endeavors.
